A Royal Asscher Cut diamond of 17.40 carats worth a six figure sum held by Joop Asscher.
This was the first time I had photographed a diamond, and what an incredibly hard job
it was too. I had brought Mr Asscher near to a window so that I could get some natural
light on the diamond. I sat him down on a dining room chair with his arms on the back
rest to keep the diamond relatively still whilst I took the shot. The hardest part was
actually trying to focus on the diamond. The auto focus was hunting all over the place
and doing it manually I wasn't any better. In the end I focused on the fingers.
