During the Euro 2004 Football tournament England were defeated by Portugal. This resulted in
a large number of the local Portuguese population taking over a whole street in celebration.
But when they met disappointed England fans a stand off occurred resulting in some acts of
violence. The Police arrived in riot gear (possibly a first for Jersey) to keep the two
factions apart.
Having got pictures of the huge crowd celebrating in the street and various shots of Police
officers restraining fans, I saw the opportunity for a more atmospheric shot. A line of Police
officers were preventing England fans from going near the Portuguese fans. Shooting at a quarter
of a second I managed to get the shot I wanted.
